Our YVI outreach teams in Liberia and Sierra Leone have discovered many extremely poor areas in the surrounding communities that need help with feeding and maintenance work on the homes of the blind and disabled, the orphaned, the elderly and the Polio victims. We have a weekly distribution route to these different communities to deliver Mana Packs with rice and oil.
The Blind & Disabled, Polio victims, Amputees and Mentally ill: who are grouped together and put into homes, were sleeping on dirt floors with leaky roofs. The inhuman living conditions were causing many to grow ill and not having money to see a Doctor were slowly dying within the walls of the these homes. We have now made arrangements with some local doctors and medical centers to treat and pay for the medical needs and medications they will need. Not only have we been replacing roofs on the these homes, We have also funded and built beds with mattresses to get them off the dirt floors.
In Liberia, We are currently feeding and serving:
18 blind & disabled homes
(694 people).
10 Elderly homes
(894 people).
In Sierra Leone, we are currently feeding and serving:
18 blind & disabled homes (743 people).
The Orphaned: Our YVI leaders have been building relationships with the local orphanages and care takers. We have been feeding the orphans and care takers as well as helping with building new bunkbeds and furnishing mattresses as we find the needs. We have also been replacing much needed tin roofs on the orphanages.
In Liberia, we are currently feeding and serving 19 orphanages (671 orphans).
In Sierra Leone, we are currently feeding and serving 2 orphanages (60 orphans).
The Youth Clubs are discipleship programs to train, equip and empower young leaders to start and maintain weekly youth clubs…Disciples making disciples. These Youth Clubs are held in schools, churches, and orphanages within the communities. The main focus of the Youth clubs is to equip the youth with spiritual and biblical teaching as well as life and social skills helping them to become leaders in society. Which then gives them the confidence to become witnesses and lead others to a personal relationship with Jesus
The YVI leaders have put together Evangelism teams that go search out locations in the communities for orphanages, widowed communities, blind communities, crippled and polio communities that are in desperate need for food and ministry care to help sustain their families.
Evangelism Testimony - The YVI African director, Francis Molou, befriended and grew a trusting relationship with a local, prominent gang leader. This gang leader lead 194 members into drugs, stealing and fighting. But with the Lord’s mercy and grace, this leader turned his life over to the Lord, relinquishing his leadership duties.
He is now enrolled in the Jim Rogers Youth Empowerment Center training to become an electrician and living back home with his family. Because of his transformation, God opened up the doors to the gang and drug communities. The teachers from the Youth Empowerment Center are now granted permission to travel into the gang communities with portable teaching tools and set up training classes for the gang members and hold Youth Club meetings.
In 2023, We built the Jim Rogers Youth Empowerment Center in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. This center offers the youth a great opportunity to train and obtain a lifelong trade skill which then allows them to work for someone or start their own business. Many discover their God given talents and skills through this training center. Along with technical skill training the students attend chapel to learn more about God through biblical teachings. We started off our first semester with 172 students including 39 orphans.
